CleanPlex SARS-CoV-2 Emerging Variants Panel Add-on v2 for robust whole-genome coverage
The new variants of concern, particularly the recently discovered Omicron variant from South Africa contain mutations in the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the spike protein, which have been shown to significantly increase infection rates and can negatively impact the efficacy of the recently developed vaccines and current COVID-19 qPCR mass testing methods. Thus, a robust detection method and continued screening and surveillance are more critical than ever in our continued global efforts to control this pandemic.
The Emerging Variants Panel Add-on v2 has been specifically optimized from the initial product to address the emerging variants by targeting the unique mutations in the S gene, and by cross-referencing the FLEX panel design for uniform coverage and confident identification of their defining mutations. EVA v2 has been confirmed in-silico to cover all defining and characteristic mutations of the sub-lineages of omicron: BA.1, BA.2, BA. 2.12.1, BA. 2.75, BA.3, BA. 4, and BA.5.
